New Kilt ordered.
I mentioned in another thread that I pulled some overtime this month so there's a little bit of cream on the milk so to speak. With this in mind, I just pulled the trigger on an 8 yard, 16oz wool, machine sewn kilt in Bruce Hunting.
It's a special order weave so it's going to take a while (10 weeks-ish) but hey, I like waiting.
I also like living life on the edge it seems.
It's a little bit more than I intended to spend so I'll probably be in the deepest of doodoo after my lovely wife finds out about it tomorrow...
And for those who don't know what Bruce hunting looks like. TaDaaaa!

I am sure it will be a beautiful kilt. Regarding the wife remember the old adage "It is easier to ask forgiveness than for permission". I use this theory from time to time with my wife and I have been married for over 11 years.

I'm sure that you can bring Cagman round!
Look forward to seeing it being modelled in due course. :

Another fine kilt to anticipate.
Looking forward to seeing pics of you wearing the finished product.

That's a fine tartan. I'm sure it's worth taking some heat for.

Great, John! At least you'll have something to look forward to after the Ferintosh Burns Supper!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

I've been married for over 12 years now, and after much experimentation, I have come to this general conclusion as well, though with a slight twist. I've found it's easier to just tell her what I'm doing before I do it (note I did not say "ask"), let her get it out of her system, and then do it. At least with a little prior notice, there isn't so much forgiveness to be sought afterward (nor is there a surprise when I walk in the door with my new goodie).
Yes, I'm curious too. I'm mere days away from pulling the trigger on a custom-weave 16-oz 8-yarder myself. The thought of waiting 10 weeks or more is almost unbearable. Patience may be a virtue, but it's also a very unpleasant and inconvenient one!
