Sweaters

Great sweater, I have been married many years and still can’t get my wife to knit. How do you young guys do it? Never mind this old dog can’t learn new tricks, excuse me will not learn new tricks!

Well, one of the (multiple) knitting books I got her for Christmas was one called Knitting for Guys that was full of nice sweater patterns (this one included). So that helped. :-) Of course, she's an avid knitter to begin with, always looking for more projects to take on, so she really did not need too much coaxing. It's how she stays sane sharing the house with me and all the kids.

At this point, I expected to read "so that she could help me learn to knit" LOL.

There actually is a knitting book in the ". . .For Dummies" series, but I didn't find it very helpful.

Lovely sweater, and I may have to look up that pattern... the problem with pullovers is our temperate climate. Rare is the day that Bob gets through without removing the sweater mid-way. Then you've just got a rumpled shirt to show. And cardigans on a man are just too "Mr. Rogers" for my taste.

Sweaters are great accessories to wear with the kilt -- and are especially wonderful on chilly days.

Here is one that my talented wife just finished knitting for me yesterday. I was very happy to give it its debut wearing today.

Looks very smart! Yes, sweaters are also a very important aspect of my Highland attire. "Jumpers" as they call them in Scotland, I tend to wear mine whilst hill walking or on many very informal occassions. I tend to wear both v-neck and crewneck styles, in assorted colors to tone with my kilt, and with a collared shirt underneath. I shall post photos of me hill walking in Glentruim, in Badenoch, showing me in my sweaters. Nice post!

The "fleece" thing has long been a pet peeve. I guess that they had to come up with a generic name for what I always refer to as "Polar Tek" so "fleece" got to be the generic word for that synthetic stuff.

I have no idea what the sheep think about this but, if it was me, I would take umbrage at it.

I once again recommend the commando sweaters from LL Bean. Very nice. Not unlike the Jaeger sweater that my dad had in WWII.

I meant "jumper" geezo. My father always called his sweaters "fleeces" despite a great many number of them being made by The North Face!!! So that's where that comes from. Does it really matter?
