MOLLE and Velcro are great inventions. I haven't put together a MOLLE kilt rig yet, but I do incorporate Velcro regularly.

I stitch the loop-side patch where a kilt pin would normally go, and I use a hot glue gun to stick the hook-side to the rear of the patch. Easy to swap patches or to remove them for washing.

Got you, it would be a great look for that! And if you wear it for paintball be sure and wear as large a sporran as possible and velco that in place as well, lol!

I like the idea of using an Amerikilt because of the way their sporran attaches. Anyway it's just the way my mind works. I have a picture in my head of what I want it to be and can't describe it to fully suit the mental image.
By the way nice kilt and great idea. Have fun paintballing and kilting
Actually I found running in my paintball kilt far easier than running in BDU pants. I also have way more protection form errant paintballs (my kilt maker included an under apron pocket for a piece of thick leather but it's really not needed with the MOLLE attachment for the sporran). Might I suggest that you get a custom made range kilt? RKilts was able to incorperate MOLLE straps during the build, as I'm sure Steve could engineer something in a Freedom Kilt. Your suggestion of a an Amerikilt of Utilikilt is fine except for all the damn chrome buttons everywhere. Extra clip pockets and holster attached by MOLLE is certainly the way to go. An Admin pouch for your gun licence? Would be well worth the slight added cost of a bespoke tac-kilt.

I would go with JT at Needlepimp. He's LEO and military, and his specialty is the tactical kilt. He can do it in whatever configuration you want, whatever fabric, MOLLE, any pocket config you need. I have an ACU kilt of his and it's AWSOME! he goes my OFCJAX around here, but I haven't seen him around much. He's stationed in the south Pacific right now, but still making kilts.

All I can say is WOW. Very cool. And to think I thought I was being creative. The work looks exceptional and they look great when done.

So what's the verdict? Are you going full-bore custom tactical kilt?

I'm trying to work my way up to that. I want to play with it a bit by myself, but thanks for the info.

I also don't think I like the idea of flashes for this particular outfit.
Consider black hose with black flashes or garter ties as long as we're using black. Black wooly-pully?

As I have thunked about it I would like a little color in the outfit, nothing dramatic mind you, but maybe flashes wouldn't be terrible, red or yellow...
