Very cool effect on your picture by the way.

Although it would be great to have a significant other or dear friend who would knit one for each of us, I have found the next best thing to be Ebay, where I have purchased several at outlandishly low prices in a rainbow of colors and variety of styles/necks/patterns, most still with the original new tags still in place, and most from Arran Isle knitting companies. Some of us are not as fortunate as Matt, not that our spouses are not equally loving, just not necessarily equally talented in the same arenas.

Thanks for the compliments. The look of the photo is the result of photoshopping. :-) (Actually, I used Paint Shop Pro 7.0 if anyone cares). When I got home from work my wife took me outside to snap some pictures so that she could post her finished sweater on Ravelry. Unfortunately all of the pics she took turned out horribly overexposed.

Making lemonade from lemons, I toyed around with this image until I was happy with it. I really like the effect I came up with.

Boy that reminds me- I bought an incredible sweater on the Isle of Skye in 1986 that has, in grey tones, Celtic knotwork designs all over it.

I only wore it on that trip- it was cold, and Southern California isn't.

Now it's far too small for me. I guess I should put it up for sale!

By the way, there's a type of pipe band that's called a "sweater band" in the pipe band scene.

"Sweater bands" are noncompetition bands, also known as "street bands" or "parade bands". They wear the MOD style sweaters, hence the name.

Beautiful work from Mrs. Newsome, as always. I see she's enjoying cables again.

I think sweaters look very good with kilts.

Here is a link for those of us who don't have access to their own personal knitter.

This is one of my personal favorites, although it is seldom warm enough here in Arizona to wear it.

I agree with the sweater is a must, a waist length (bomber style) jacket just doesn't look right, and the sweater when worn with the correct accesories screams of someone who wears a kilt regularly. IMHO.

I, also, am a big fan of the sweater. I have a nice aran cableknit sweater that I'll wear while kilted in the winter and late fall/early spring. It looks great, and I want a closet full of big chunky sweaters to wear with my kilts.

That is a really nice sweater with a large open neck. I like the looks of that. Congratulations to you and your wife. Great stuff.
