Agreed.
Not end of the world stuff, but not as welcoming as it could be.

Cordially,

Well said. I'll check back in a day or two and see if it has improved. This is not good.

I don't like the WHITE, STERILE appearance.
I want the warmth and welcoming appearance of the tartan. This new "No Color" scheme is scary. I makes me feel as though the "New Age" is now in my room. I don't want that. I want to feel warm and welcomed in the color scheme and general design of the color usages and the softer, easier on the eyes glow of my monitor.
This clarity on the screen is TOO MUCH.
The screen lights up my whole room white in a wash of white. I want the less brilliant display of the mostly tartan coloring.
edit: the color here in the dialogue are has changed since this reply was posted. I wrote post #58 just after this edit amendment
PLEASE put in the tartan background. This new look is not friendly nor does it convey a sense of open welcome of those seeking a place holding no axe to grind. It now looks like a place to generate electricity or to perform surgery.
The new appearance doesn't lend itself to a nostalgia or camaraderie of spirit in persons present sharing news and views, opinions and rants, etc.
Please take out the ice and bring the air of comfort and reason back to the screen?
Bring back more XMTS tartan in the background and borders.

Well something has happened! The print is easier to read, thank you Steve/Chris. Come on guys give the chaps a fair go! Changes are not easy and on the whole we all prefer the status quo. I think that it may be time to sit back and watch for a while. I shall.

Okay, this is seriously getting worse. I'm just going to stay away for a while. Someone call me when this forum is usable again.

Wow. Was there a back-out plan on this system upgrade? I understand it's complicated, but are we testing in production?

Well, the blue dialogue area is better than the white. Made so since my previous post of a few hours ago.
Even so, "It's the TARTAN" I'm looking for. C'mon, Steve, more tartan!
The light gray around the outside area of the window isn't XMTS tartan.
A major source of my pride in this site has been in the fact that when I refer new friends to XMTS it is in the knowledge that when they arrive they will see a site steeped in tartan imagery and traditional resource.
Not having that available to me will severely stifle my propensity to bring new eyes to the place that has helped clear my eyes in the history, heraldry, traditions, and camaraderie ever present amongst the KILTED brother/sisterhood.
After all, isn't it a goal of a site operator to appease the greater interests that have made the site more and more popular in its growth and outreach to the unwashed masses?
One could think me stodgy and recalcitrant to embrace changes and improvements if one didn't know me. Since y'all know me thoroughly, y'kno tha 'm na so obtuse nor am i unwilling to move ahead in progress.
It's the tartan that separates AND BINDS the clans and brotherhood.
Let's encourage every new visitor to enjoy the fun and friendliness of this site that I used to see as a site steeped in tartan imagery and traditional resource. TARTAN

A possible hint for anyone who misses the nested links to the fora at the bottom: I make heavy use of the BACK button (or actually it's keyboard shortcut). I can be back at the top of the forum in just a few keystrokes. There may be a mouse button that does the same, if your meece have little side-buttons.

X Marks the Scot - A Community of Kiltwearers. > General Kilt Talk > General Kilt Talk > Totally disoriented..
It allowed you to clink General Kilt Talk and pop straight back to that forum instead of scrolling through a dropdown or scrolling back to the top to click that link. It's just a really handy feature.
