Good question! The Baron Ravenworth is Liddel, for the past 17 generations I believe. That family is the current owner of Ravensworth outside of Suffolk England. My title is a metriculation reaching back to my 23rd Great Grandfather Henry FitzHervey De Ravensworth. I'm not a Peer, just one who bears a hereditary bearing. I was born in Aberdeen, on Queens Den Rd, on the west side, but grew up (attempted to at any rate) for the past 30 years in the US. My second cousin is Lord Scottye McClain Of Mull, who also happens to live about 3 miles from me here in Missouri.

Well, gentleman? not always I'm afraid! I took a rather serious dig at you, and I apologise personally. Life has been a pain recently, and I got rather grouchy, which is unfortunate. And I completely agree that life is way too short. I have cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure...so I too know. Cheers!

It was passed from my father, who recieved his grant from Sir Francis Grant. Mine was approved by Robin Blair. Unfortunately, entirely too much is made of armourial bearings...especially in the US. In the end, it's really just a courtesy title, and means very little in the US..and even less in the UK...I dont get a seat in Parliament...I dont get through Heathrow any faster...doesn't get me relief on traffic tickets. It can be a door opener, and useful for networking..but little else.

I do not believe Lord Lyon Grant granted arms to anyone with the surname Harvey during his reign, unless Lyon Clerk forgot to record the grant in the Public Register--which would be highly unlikely. As a courtesy to the members of this Forum who are interested in heraldry, perhaps you would care to elaborate on the grant to your father, and your subsequent matriculation.

A Baron and a Lord in any example are not necessarily the same entity. I am not the Baron Ravensworth as I am not the owner of said Barony or land...I am further not of the Liddell family as I have already stated...nor are the Liddells descended from the FitzAkaris or FitzHervey lines. Most of my male ancestors on both sides of my family up until my 5th Great Grandfather were English...after that Scottish. Ravensworth is named for the FitzAkaris line....not the Liddell line. I mean really, is this so much an issue of patrilinial ascendancy, or my personality? Truthfully. Actually, dont answer, as I cant be arsed about this any longer.
