Luckily the problem was with a supply line to the claw footed tub in the bathroom over the kitchen. The fitting was beginning to fail. I don't know what everyone is talking about when they wax nostalgic about how stuff was made better "back then". This fitting is only 100 years old for crying out loud.

And Luckily, as on tubs of this sort all the plumbing is exposed. So, a quick couple of wrench twists, a yank, and it is off. The big problem is replacing the fitting. They don't make them much any more. So I spent a good hour in my basement digging through my "extra stuff" boxes to find another one. Another quick twist of the wrench and job done. Time for a coffee break.

Then the clean-up. Do you know how much I like hole saws. You can punch a 4" hole in a wall, mop up the remaining water, replace the plug with an identical one cut out of a new sheet of drywall and butter it back in with some mud.

A Quick swab of the deck and we're back in business.

Of course, I could be lying about all this because there are no pics. Sorry, the next time I have to email my wife with "Houston, we have a problem" I'll remember to grab a camera before I even turn off the water supply. Just for you folks.

So, the party just broke up, everyone looked at the ceiling as they mingled about eating, drinking and talking audiology shop talk. And I just hung up coats, but nobody got an unexpected shower so I guess it was a success.
