He had a fine, long, and interesting life.
Somewhere in my mother's house there is a picture of me in my tiny 'Davy Crockett' coonskin hat; in a box in my garage, awaiting recycling, is a bottle that only recently held wine from his vineyard.

Just read this on the internet...I'm bummed
Not listed amongst his films were two of my favorites:
"The Jayhawkers" (1959) & "Smoky" (1966).
Oh, and how could I forget "Hell is for Heroes" (1962)?!

My coonskin cap went away decades ago, however, the memories are still there. He had a long and good life.

Just saw it on the news. Very sad indeed.
I was at the Alamo a week ago tomorrow and whenever anyone mentioned Davy Crockett, I first thought of Fess Parker.
For me, Fess was always Davy Crockett, never Daniel Boone, though I remember him well from "Old Yeller".

For a guy of my age, this is REALLY sad:
He was one of the reasons that muzzle loading, historical reenacting, and buckskining developed.
He will always be Davy Crockett to a generation of kids

I vividly remember owning a coonskin cap and watching him every week.
