I have seen the kilt worn by at least one male member of Hector Russell staff in their shops in Edinburgh but have seen others in breeks.

But have not seen them in GT (either Royal Mile establishment - not having seen Howie personally) nor St Kilda (Nicholsons) nor in Anderson's in Dumfries.

Nor in the highland wear sections in Jedburgh, Moffat or Gretna Woollen Mills.

One wonders if they realise how much more business they could generate if this was rectified.

They're not a kiltmaker, although they have a Hector Russell department on the first floor, but Romanes and Paterson usually have a kilted guy on welcoming duty.

When I visited Edinburgh nearly two years ago, kilted, I was asked in three different kilt shops on the Royal Mile a question by another customer who assumed that because I was kilted I worked there, while the salesmen in each shop were in suits and ties.

I did see one guy kilted with a nice tweed jacket in one shop on either the Mile or Princes Street, but I think they sold something other than kilt related materials.
