Sadly, a lot of Americans wear their hats indoors, so the idea of hat racks has gone the way of the dodo here. But most non-dress military headwear is crumpled up or rolled up and placed in a pocket or the waistband (or it used to be, anyway) when indoors. I can't imagine Highlanders rolling up a Balmoral and stuffing it in their belt or sporran. So what do they generally do with a Balmoral when they come indoors? I can't figure a good way to keep my Balmoral on my person when wearing a kilt and was hoping for some advice.
Well, if I am in a house I leave my bonnet on a hall table if there is one, or in some convenient place in the hall. If I were to go into a pub, I'd carry my bonnet with me and either put it on the table, or on an empty chair. If I'm wearing a barbour or some form of coat, I might shove the bonnet in a sleeve.
