Not often; maybe 20 years ago. These days, we Texans mostly just toss our hats on the dash...oops, quoted the wrong one. Meant to quote the note that suggested the wire hat rack was common in Texas.

Yeah, I haven't seen one of those wire racks since the 1970s. Most folks today (myself included) just wear our hats in the truck. For those who drive a vehicle without enough headroom, I usually see it on the dash (brim down... *shudder*).
