    Lochcarron hose comparison.

I'm a fan of the Lochcarron hose and recently picked up a pair of oatmeal from one of our "partner merchants" online and a pair lovat blue at an actual store (shock!). They are both size 9.
Take a look at the difference in the top cuff of the two pairs of hose:

The cuff is noticeably larger and looser in the oatmeal hose. I've only tried the oatmeal on so far and they fit fine, but I'm wondering what could be the reason for the difference in the two pairs.

Have the oatmeal pair been tried on and thus stretched a bit? I own two pairs of Lochcarron hose, a lovet green and a lovet blue. I just checked and the cuff is the same width as far as I can tell. The difference you are experiencing could just be a matter of a different machine made to construct the hose. Unless you are planning on wearing one of each it shouldn't be a problem.

I'm hoping that the merchant sent me brand new hose! My concern was about folding them down (and then back up, in my case). I guess I need to report back after wearing both pairs and washing them.

How do the two compare in terms of other dimensions? (Most telling would be the length of the foot).

It's rare, but occasionally a pair of hose gets mislabeled with the wrong size.

Darn it! I have had that happen to me with Lochcarron hose, and even thought I swear by that brand, as the tartan in my kilts comes from Lochcarron, I own a few tweed Lochcarron Argyll's, as well as plain, wool neckties and flashes, I hate their hose! I sold the few pairs I had because of the dreadful size differences. For plain kilt hose, I always wear Gaelic Themes. The lovat colors look better than the Lochcarron brand anyways, and Gaelic Themes has a better variety of colors to choose from, to include brown! I have just begun to build a kilt hose wardrobe consisting of hose from the House of Cheviot, yet they are considerably more expensive than Gaelic Themes or Lochcarron, so the collection is building slowly!

I order mine from Henderson's out of Michigan. Excellent service, fast shipping! Check them out.

I favor the Gaelic Themes hose as well, and I got mine from Henderson too. They did manage to send me the wrong hose on my last order (they sent piper's hose instead of plain kilt hose), but they corrected it quickly and I was happy.

Funny thing is, the two colors I ordered were Lovat blue and oatmeal. And I also agree with Kyle that the Lovat blue color is a lot better than Lochcarron's. It's not so bright.

Just ordered 3 pairs of Gaelic Theme from, Scottish Lion. They had several older colors on sale so the final cost with shipping was less than $20/pair. These were all in size medium.
