Sporran Use

Speaking of which, I wear an enormous, hair-on buffalo sporran, and the only things I carry in there are a 750 of bourbon and an Arkansas toothpick.

Ok, not really, but that would be good for a laugh .

Cell phone, very slim card holder, keys. I like to travel light, under no circumstances will I wear a "fanny pack" (we usually call them something far worse, BTW...wear them like you'd wear boat shoes without socks, pleated front pants on the short side, and a cardigan half-tied around your neck, which is to say "never, ever" ), and if I'm honest with ya, if there's a need to carry more I'll take a backpack or gym bag. I really do try to minimize what I'm lugging around on my person.

There's usually also room for drone corks, a little yellow waxed linen thread, and some electrical tape just in case, as appropriate.

This idea of a couple pockets inside the front apron is interesting. My MTB shorts don't have pockets either, but the elastic inside the waist band is good enough to grip the cell phone and the card carrier against my skin if I need to duck in to a store before/after riding. I can see something similar with a kilt, below the edge of the belt. I think I remember seeing something rigged up with molle straps, no?

To me a sporran is a practical item. I can't imagine not using it.

I don't know, that sounds kind of nice. The pants legs rolled up a bit maybe.

Anyway, I do recall seeing quite a few sporran-like pouches being worn on the side of the hip by ranchers and horse back riders out here in the Southwest. That was in the late seventies, though.
