			Kilt Belt Buckles

OK..in short summary I committed a gaffe... I had a seconds kilt belt that I hat gotten cheap for a special occasion with the intent of replacing it with a true quality belt when I was able. I have just recently gotten a beautiful new kilt belt, it is very nice. The only problem is that is is a 2.5" belt, and the one really nice buckle I have (a gift) will not fit the belt width. I never thought of this as a potential issue. Anyway,,,, while I do have buckle that will fit the belt I am looking for sources for nice kilt belt buckles that are not really high priced and will fit a 2.5" belt. Particularly any that are generically Celtic would be ideal. Any suggestions greatly appreciated

The Scottish Tartans Museum has some very nice belt buckles in their gift shop that I have had my eye on. Some of them are handcrafted and are a bit more expensive, but would be hard to beat at any price for their quality and craftsmanship. Good luck!

Most of the modern buckles don't do much for me, but I really like this one by Glen Esk of Scotland:

It looks better in person. I saw somebody wearing out out at a Games and I just had to have one. The deerhead is in nice relief, somewhat 3-d.

It's part of an en suite set by Glen Esk which includes a sporran cantle and kilt pin.

			Glen Esk

Thanks for the info. I actually got an email from Glen Esk because my buckle that no longer fits is from them. I had asked if there was a possibility they had a version that would fit. Grahame explained that they consider a 2.5" belt a piper's belt and not a kilt belt, hence their buckles will not fit.

Yes kilt belts used to come in two sizes, the wide one for military-style full dress uniforms, and a narrower one for civilian Evening Dress.
That Glen Esk buckle fits the Evening Dress size.

It says here: These buckles are made to fit on standard 2.25" or 2.5" kilt belts. That may be an option when you're ready for a really nice buckle.
