Piper of the A&SH's c. Late 1890's
An outstanding portrait of a piper from the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in full regalia taken probably sometime in the late 1890's. The splendid uniform is matched by this soldiers almost regal bearing. The finery aside he is a veteran of active service this being born out by the single clasp campaign medal on his chest. This medal is
most likely a single clasped 1895 India General Service Medal.
