"Glen Lean" will serve the purpose certainly. But - a propos of BoldHighlander's suggestion - something of a military Scottish flavour should sometime be named "Lochnagar," a mountain with royal links in the Grampians, immortalized by Byron among others, and also a famous crater created on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1 July 1916, just before the Tyneside Scottish went over the top, mostly to their deaths.

He only has to make the belt to go with it, and then it will be on its way up to me, courtesy of USPS Priority Mail, insured. I should be able to post pictures of it sometime next week.

Oh, and we do have a name. I mentioned some of the ideas on this forum to Mr. Britt himself, and he appreciates the input, however he had already selected a name which he thinks quite fitting.

As you know most of his sporran designs are named after geographical locations in Scotland. For this one, he chose the name "Glen Lean." It's the name of a Glen near Loch Tarsan in Argyll & Bute, a bit south of the Trossachs.

    See map.

A fitting name for a "lean sporran" methinks.

I can't wait for it to arrive, and of course there will be pics!
Can't wait to see it Matt

    Now I really like that!

Well, yesterday the new Glen Lean sporran was dropped off at the post office, Priority Mail. I can't wait for it to arrive. But to whet my appetite, I got an email from Ferguson Britt this mornign with these attachments....

What doesn't show in the pictures is this one has a small interior pocket, which I am looking forward to.

We should be able to retail these for $285. And, if anyone is curious, the little brass button is also available in silver tone, if anyone would prefer that (on a black sporran, perhaps). In fact, we'll probably use the silver tone as standard on a black sporran, and use the brass ones for brown leathers. But we can do either one, upon request.

Thanks, Robert. I'm hoping the postman delivers it today! It usually only takes 2 days for Priority Mail packages to get to us from Ferguson Britt's hidden fortress of sporran generation. :-)

I anticipate I will be wearing this one quite frequently. For day-to-day kilting, often times something very simple is what I desire, and this certainly fits the bill. "Simple but elegant" is the phrase that keeps coming to mind.

Just between you and me, Matt, the pictures don't really do this thing proper justice. Looks fantastic, might feel even better, and you can actually get your hand into it! It seems to have the capacity to hold quite a bit, without looking... bloated, for lack of a better word (yeah, I had to see what it could hold, but don't worry- I didn't stretch, scuff, or otherwise maltreat your thing of beauty- hope you don't mind).

Anywho, I hope you get it today. It will be exciting!

I wondered about that. The opening looks kind of narrow.
