I was going to ask about that. That's not a clan badge, is it? Would it ever be appropriate to wear a clan badge as a kilt pin rather than on one's bonnet (if, for example, one was not wearing a bonnet)?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with using your clan badge as a kilt pin, or wearing it in the left lapel of your jacket it the mood so strikes you. The badge shows your allegiance to your chief and membership in the clan he leads. How you choose to display that allegiance is a matter of personal preference.

Exactly! I wear one sometimes when I prefer something a wee bit larger on my kilt apron.
