    I think more blue - perhaps as the dominant background color... with stripes/components representing the state symbols... some very nice colors there....
    Incorporating so many elements would really yield a "busy" tartan, IMHO!
    Lots of folks like predominently blue tartans. I'm not one of them. (Like many of my Texas friends, I think the "Bluebonnet" sett is ghastly!) I much prefer the green ground, as it emphasizes the rural aspect of our state (an aspect many non-New Yorkers find surprising!)....

    A green ground would be fine, too.... I was just looking at it from the kilt construction perspective... as it is (and I do like some of the color choices) - it may be difficult to pleat to the stripe...

    I may play around today and at least give an idea of what I am talking about...
