Old Bird Pulls Toy Boy
NOT what you think!!
A female Osprey has returned to her Scottish summer home for the 20th consecutive year as she continues her annual contribution to Perthshire's population of this rare species.
Affectionately known as The Lady of the Loch, this devoted osprey has been returning to the Scottish Wildlife Trust Loch of Lowes wildlife reserve for two decades where she has been loyally met with a male mating partner, seven years her younger, for some years.
However, this year, our poor old Lady of the Loch, was well and truly stood up as she was left waiting for weeks on her partner returning from his migration break in Africa.
Just as the team began to lose hope for the 25-year-old bird, a young 10-year-old toy boy appeared on the scene, eager to offer his assistance....

Wonderful, thanks for the link, I'm sharing it with all the osprey fans in my family!

I expect the British authorities, "The Soc", will want to look into the female osprey's predatory behaviour. But seriously, this sort of thing is good news to everyone interested in birds. Hopefully this is an urban legend, or old news, but I was once told that the UK was down to one nesting pair?

That's is touching really.
It is wonderful to see that the Lady has survived for so long and has such a following. I don't want to say that osprey's are as common as dirt in Nova Scotia, but they certainly aren't endangered here. I look forward to spring to see the ospreys rebuilding nests and flying by with their fish. I hope that the Lady and her partners continue to add to the osprey population in Scotland.
