I am confused.... why is it a 'gimmick'? I am a musician and I am starting a duo with a friend of mine from teh pipe band... we are thinking of being kilted... would you look at that as a gimmick? As far as getting attention.. yeah -- I think it's a good idea... but not a gimmick at all.
or am I just taking the title the thread's wrong way?

Actually I've lately been regretting using the somewhat-harsh term 'gimmick', since a kilted business might raise the public consciousness in a good way etc etc. But there was something offputting about the concept at first- sort of like dressing in a clown outfit to sell cars, only in this case using Scottish attire. But the agent does have a Scottish name and anyway who am I to criticise? Plus, I keep forgetting: making money, there's nothing wrong with that.
