    Celtic Fest 2010, Chicago

This past weekend I met up with several Xmarksthescot fellows at the Chicago CelticFest 2010. It was held in Millenium Park, just off Lake Michigan.
    Very nice venue.
I'll post some photos below and I invite others who have pictures to add.

First, thanks to McFarkus for publishing info about the fest in advance. I happened to be in southwest Michigan on vacation and saw his posts.

The fest was sponsored in part by FlyNoviaScotia and they had a drawing for a free trip for two to Nova Scotia for 4 nights or so. The trick was you had to live in Illinois, so I didn't enter. They did feature some musicians, dancers, and other entertainers from that part of Canada.

There were tents for musicans, dancers, and local groups as well as some vendors for crafts such as jewelry, ceramics, sweaters, etc. There was some information booths on Wales as well.

Saturday was cloudy, cold, and rainy. Sunday was clear skies but still cool.

    Here are the pics:

Nova Scotia dancers and musicians on main stage.

Three Chicago pipe bands that played on Saturday, marching in mass.

Scottish Country Dancing on Saturday (also many Irish dancers)

McFarkus in the middle, myself on the right and a gentleman whose name I have forgotten on the left (my apologies) Auld Aragonian was also there but I don't seem to have his picture on my camera.

The "Bean" an interesting mirror sculpture and the site of the pipers sets.

Farlander, McFarkus, and myself on Sunday.

It was great to meet the other XMark gentlemen and some of the families.

There were not a lot of kilted men there. We were asked by many people to be photographed with, and were happy to oblige. And I'm sure there were many other photos taken from a distance.

McFarkus and I were interviewed on camera by a young lady from Northwestern University for a journalism project.

I had a great time and when I retire to Michigan in a couple of years, I'll probably become a regular.

    Tom

Tom, it was great to meet you. Thanks for publishing the additional pictures. I guess I focused only on pics of Xmarkers and forgot to take pictures of the actual Fest.
