Most of our state police forces in Australia have a highland pipes and drums band as does our national police force.
If memory serve me correctly the Victoria Police Pipe Band won the world championships in 1998

The topic "police pipe bands" reminds me of a great line printed a couple of years ago in The Piping Times:

A police pipe band in Scotland (I think it was the Northern Constabulary Pipe Band, but honestly I don't remember) got new uniforms with a new tartan. A friend came up to them at a highland games to congratulate and asked what was the new tartan.

    The response:

    "Just a routine check, sir."

    I love that.

Which suggests an answer a kilted constable could give to The Question:

"Nothing to see here, M'am, just move along."

Would only work in the UK I think.
