    Hose for new kilt

    Hi Gang-
My B&S casual is going to arrive at some point here in the future, and I'm in a bind of sorts. I know how I'm going to have my diced hose made, but it will be another month AFTER I receive my kilt before I get them due to the mile long line I have for diced hose! SO-In the mean time, I figure I'd get some filler until they arrive. I have a pair of Black Lewis hose that Matt sent me along with the BP kilt he made me some time back. I really like these hose, so I guess I'll go with another pair.....Its just what color to go with. This new kilt is MacDonald of Glenedale which is ancient red dominant. almost orange from the looks. Here's a link to a post regarding how I am having it pleated-You can see the color scheme there-

So....What color would go with this kilt?

I'd go Lovat Blue or Green. Nice tartan, Josh.

    Ditto.

And I'd think about giving the new hose that Matt has in a try. Made by the same folks as the lewis hose, same lovat green color and good construction, but in a lighter weight; should be perfect for the summer months. And at like $22 bucks, how can you go wrong?
I had a pair in my hand yesterday, and yet, was somehow able to resist the urge to buy them. Being a new teacher who hasn't yet found employment might have something to do with it.

None the less, I'd give my willpower two months to hold out, tops.

But yeah, lovat green. Or blue would be ok, too.

I concur, a lovat green, or a sage green, with ancient red traditional garters..just my opinion.

Don't know if this helps cousin - here's a pic of Macdonald of Kingsburgh (Skye) with bottle green kilt hose. Tartan has a lot of red/orange in it.

And, another option for kilt hose is to forget the difficult tartan and match the leather. Here dark brown Lewis kilt hose to match the brown sporran and vest.

That's a really clever Idea, Ron. I am gathering a set of brown leathers - I must give this a go.

We still have a couple of pair left of that shade of brown that Ron is wearing. It's a discontinued color (we still offer brown, but in a different, darker shade).

We have M in stock only.

Here's what the new shade of brown looks like. It's called "Dark Natural."

Brown Lewis would look good, but for the same price or less you could go for the Bowmore range by HofC
