    Oh, the Horror!

Two things that may not go together, a fine cigar and a wool kilt. Was smoking a nice Nicaraguan on Saturday, had a ember fall and now I get to visit the re weaver. Burned a less than dime sized hole in my kilt apron....Drats I hate it when that happens!

    sorry bout your luck,

thats why i've decided only to smoke a tabacco pipe instead of cigars in kilts, well that and mine is acrylic so i'm a little paranoid of embers, actually now that i think about it, i've had more shirts and coats have holes burnt in them by people not watching their cigarette then my cigars (however I don't smoke cigarettes, only the occasional cigar or pipe)

I smoke cigars and feel safer in a wool kilt than an acrylic one. I've had embers hit my wool kilt, brushed the off and no major holes/damage. I've had the same thing happen in my acrylic and holes all over and some melted mass hit my legs. I have this nightmare of smoking a cigar in one of my acrylics, having an ember hit it , and the hole thing going up in flames. Not a pleasant thought. Like I said, I feel safer cigar smoking in my wools.

Maybe you should consider getting a kilt apron from What Price Glory to protect your kilt from the ravages of tobacco.

And of course there are other nicotine delivery systems that do not endanger the kilt - gum, lozenges, patches, inhalers...

At least with a kilt one doesn't have to worry about the hot ash between the legs while driving situation...

The pipe is the way to go, not just for kilted smoking, but all smoking. Smoking a cigarette is like watching tv, smoking a cigar is like watching a movie, and smoking a pipe is like reading a book! Plus you are really immersing yourself in in "Scottishness" in kilt with a nice Lovat or Bulldog shape pipe filled with Rattray's (of Perth) Black Mallory (a Full Scottish Mixture).

    Oohhh Bad news!
There's not much that beats a good cigar, great care to be taken while smoking kilted.

Scotcop, ssshhhh, you sound like my wife.

In a related threadjack, what would be the best way to get tobacco odor out of a wool kilt?
