    What Outfit

Don't think I've ever started a thread before, but need advice.

In May I am attending the 'Ladies Festival' in my masonic lodge, and it's been suggested I go kilted, which I would like to do. I'm advised that though some wear DJ, the majority wear lounge suit. What would members suggest would be appropriate for me?

This event is going to be in the evening? I'd say go with something between a lounge suit and full formal/Prince Charlie/Doublet.

I would suggest black argyle jacket with 5 button vest or for a bit less, charcoal tweed argyle and vest, dark self coloured hose, black brogues with a formal sporran or black hunting sporran with silver cantle

I have black argyle jacket, also 5 button vest. My only brogues are black. So this seems to be the best advice so far. Thanks. Any more advice keep it coming.

Downunder Kilt's advice sounds about right to me. Particularly if it's the stuff you've got already! You can dress the jacket down with a self coloured/plainish tie, or dress it up with a bowtie. If there's going to be a mixture of dinner suits and lounge suits I'd have thought you'd get away without a bowtie tbh.

Having said that, I've got absolutely no idea if there's any peculiarities about dress codes for Masonic Lodge functions.

One possibility is wearing the black Argyll jacket with a 3-button vest (PC style) and bow tie. For the price of another waistcoat, you have a black tie outfit! There is a contingent who prefer that look to the Prince Charlie.

By all means buy the three-button waistcoat. But on the night, wear your Argyll jacket, five-button waistcoat, and a crisp white shirt. You'll knock 'em dead!

I'm advised there will be a mixture of lounge and dinner suits. So having perused the advice given, I feel inclined to go for the bow tie.

The Ladies Festival is on Saturday, and the flyer reads " Black Tie",
"Carriages at Midnight"!. I can manage the black tie, not too sure about the carriage?
