Welcome to X-Marks - from a fellow Nashvillian - on the South-Side - but grew up on the East Side near Edgefiled - I can see the stadium from my downtown office.

Welcome from another Nashvillian. I grew up in the south area, around Oak Hill on Granny White Pike. I've had to move on, and I'm fixing to relocate (again) to Alexandria, VA (finally back in the South), but I love Nashville dearly. There are a few good kilt-related events there. Go to the Glasgow games in Kentucky if you can. They're about 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Nashville, but well worth the drive. Also, there used to be a highland games in Triune, at the site of the Rennaissance (sp?) Festival grounds. I don't know if it still goes on, but you can check. There's also a good pipe band - the Nashville Pipes and Drums. One of their members played at my wedding 6 years ago, and I believe their practices are open to the public.

Thanks for the info.
I was at Kroger to get some groceries wearing my kilt on Saturday. I was stopped by a couple who asked if I had just come from the Renaissance Festival. As you know it happens every weekend in May and Memorial Day. They suggested I go this weekend and it would be fun. We will see.

Welcome from Hay Springs, Nebraska--conveniently located in the exact middle of nowhere.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

I know what you mean. But, As a youngster I was taught that the middle of nowhere was just outside Lockridge, Ia., just east, toward Mt. Pleasant. Before any fellow Iowa natives get too upset, I love Iowa and my childhood there. I intend to get kilts in the Iowa State and Iowa State Dress tartans.
I can prove my association by my birth certificate.
