Not yet, but it is something I'll be looking into (the tartan will be Macdonell of Keppoch).

I'm not sure how my son will take to the idea, he's more into his Cherokee heritage (while I have Cherokee bloodlines, his mother's lineage is very heavy with Cherokee). I think sometimes the idea of the "ol' man" in a kilt embarrasses him. Oh well!!

You could always get an Oklahoma or Georgia tartan kilt.

    Congratulations, Terry!

Congratulations, I turned fifty-nine today and got surprised by the great-grandchildren stopping in to say hi at work. They presented me with cards and well wishes, then came to the house after work for a cookout.

I hope you can have the same.

Great blessing on a great day.
I wish you many happy days with the family.

    Hi, Terry – congratulations!
Have you given thought to the idea of giving the wee lad a kilt in Cherokee tartan? It might remind his mother’s people that they also have Scottish connections.
    All the best,
    Mike

To my knowledge, there is no tartan specifically for the Cherokee, but someone with Cherokee heritage might choose to wear the Ross tartan in honor of Chief John Ross, whose father was a Scottish trader. Ross was the Principal Chief of the Nation during the "Trail Where They Cried", and later organized a relief drive to send $190 to Scotland for famine relief.

Hi, Todd – clearly my squirrel-like collection of tartan jpgs has come in useful.
    Have a look at http://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/tar...s.aspx?ref=627
The notes read: “Designed by Phil Smith in 1995, this was the winning design of 12 entries for a tartan to be presented to the Cherokee tribe (Echota and Chickamauga are alternative names the tribe uses) by Scottish Heritage USA at Grandfather Mountain Games 1996.”
Of course, this does not state that it was presented, nor that it was accepted, but it is on the register.
    Regards,
    Mike
