    Customer service

As we all know, customer service, be it online or in person, is probably as important as the quality and price of the goods we're trying to purchase; kilts, sporrans, belts, etc. So, since a recent thread caught my attention, the one about the Celtic shop in Ashville, NC - totally negative by the way - I decided to get some input from the rabble on who you think has great customer service. So, fire away!

I'll give you mine, as these are only the ones that I've purchased from. I'm sure there are other wonderful sites with quality customer service, but I haven't purchased from them, yet (soon, though):

    1) Dunadd.......Chris is tops!!!
    2) Stillwater....Jerry is tops!!
    3) USA kilts.....Rocky is tops!!!
    4) STM...........Matt is tops!!!
    5) J. Higgins.....John is tops!!!
    6) Celtic Croft...not bad!
    7) Scottish Trading Company.....Matt is great!!!
    8) Marchbrae of Scotland.......excellent!!!

Now, I haven't purchased, as stated above, from everyone but I hear great things about Keltoi and Freedom kilts. Steve is the 'master' when it comes to answering kilt related questions. In fact, he's the guru!

    Okay, your turn.........

Oconee Leather Works -- Steve is very accommodating and creative! He made a kilt belt for me to fit a non-standard buckle that I bought elsewhere, and the finished product was for better than I hoped for.

    Tough question,

I have delt with Stillwater for kilts and a Nylon Cargo Sporran, never had to contact Customer Service. The stuff was usually here before I logged off the computer. I did e-mail him once about the Scottish/American tartan, and got an e-mail the next morning. I asked if he sold it, and he said not enough people have requested the tartan. There was more to the response, very cordial, and answered all questions.

I bought some hose from USA Kilts, they got here as fast as Stillwater orders. I ordered a sharp Faux Seal from Celtic Croft, just as fast. No need to call anyone.

I have only had one complaint with one of the X Marks Partners, but it wasn't a big deal.

    Here Are A Few More

Donnie - Wyvern Leatherworks, tremendous craftsmanship, great service and a real gentleman

Josh- Skye Highland Outfitters High quality made to order kilt, very interested in customer feedback/issues and a nice guy to work with.

Jeanie- Alt.Kilt Great work, very receptive and helpful during order process/ decision making, exceeds expectation, a very personable lady.

I echo the remarks on Steve, I have a few of his well crafted products and Jerry as well. I even had a glitch with the system one time and got a 3 am email from Jerry.

I have to add Amerikilts to the list for great customer service.

A friend of mine just bought his first kilt, and I bought a very nice belt for my kilt collection, and the whole experience could not have been more pleasant and fun. Unfortunately, it is way too early in the morning to remember the owner's name.

My favourites in no particular order

    Chris, Dunadd Trading co.
    Jerry, Stillwater kilts
    Howie, TFCK
    John, keltoi
And last but not least Robert and Lady Chrystel.

Chris really pulled out all the stops when I emailed him about my Balmoral in June and his postage speeds are as fast as Jerry's, less than a week from deciding on what I wanted to delivery! Not bad for a completely custom balmoral.

Howie Is great to work with he really enjoys his work and seems to be almost bouncing about the place when you meet him, He doesn’t always seem to be totally on the ball with some things (I wouldn’t try finding him in his shop until after lunch time) and my kilt suit didn’t arrive for when I needed it but Don’t let that stop you as long as you’re not in any particular rush for it. The quality is top notch though.

I’ve only emailed Robert and Lady Chrystel a couple of times but replies has always been prompt and helpful.

I’m sure there are more people, I hear Mat and everyone else at the STM is are fantastic but I can’t speak from experience as I haven’t got anything from him yet.

I have bought my first real kilt from Freedom Kilts, and Steve was great to work with, we got on Skype and got my measurements, explaining everything as we went along. This was very important to me, because of my limited kilt experience, I was able to understand the proper fit, and he answered any and all questions, and showed me examples of pleating styles.

John at Keltoi is wonderful to work with, also. I am very happy with his customer service. I could write so much about him and the two kilts he made for me.

Rocky has great service, my casual kilt is great! Fast service, what more can I say that hasn't been said so many times.

Jerry at Stillwell..... He put a capital "C" in Customer Service. He has good products, and fantastic customer service.

JBoyous has done right, by me. They made me a custom caubeen, in the colors of the Marine Corps dress blues. Great communications. He makes tams, caubeens and more.

One reason I really like this site is the information passed on, about the quality merchants. I have been able to avoid the trouble, and shop only with top rated vendors. I have a few more purchases to make in my future, and will plan on using the information I gleen from the site, to get the best I can.

Well the only one I have ever dealt with is Darron from Alpha Kilts. I know recently his rep has come under the microscope, But I contacted him for my first kilt acouple of years ago, and it was very personal service. I will defend him for my experience with both my Alpha's was great.

I love everyone's comments. Seems like the vendors on this forum are top notch. And, many who do not advertise here are excellent. Wish I could do business with them all. Hey, maybe I will.

Oh, I almost forgot one: Brad at Kilted Nation, Alexandria, VA. I had a good experience with him. Nice guy! Great service!!

Oh, and another (how could I forget): Wally Catanach at Waterfall Kilts, State College, PA. He made my tank. Wally is as professional as they come. After many online communications, he called and we had a nice long chat about my measurements, and just about anything else.

So, to all the wonderful vendors, keep on, keeping on ------>
