    Defiitely a shame that G&S had no Scottish characters!

    But there is nothing to prevent a costume adaptation - a few years ago the English National Opera did a production of The Mikado in 1930s British costumes under the direction of Jonathan Miller with Eric Idle (Of Monty Python fame) as Ko-Ko and Lesley Garrett as Yum-Yum.
