Customer Service - Tartanweb
I recently pulled up an old thread about Tartanweb and noticed that their customer service did not get rave reviews. It seems that many Xmembers were in agreement: that their customer service department needed to do a better job, but that their products were still top rate. Well, I'm here to tell you that was then, and this is now. Things HAVE changed, and for the better!
I just ordered a 16oz., wool kilt and had many questions for them. Peter Reid, the sales manager, has answered every one of my many questions, and has kept me abreast on the ordering of material, when to expect it, etc. Well done Peter!!!
As I write this, the kilt is in the midst of being made. I'm sure the quality will be of a high caliber. And, so far the communications have been spot on. I'll review the final product and service when the kilt arrives. Cheers!!!

It's been some time now, but I have a tartan kilt and a "great kilt" in Douglas Modern, and another GK in a non-clan sett from them, and I've found them to be very helpful and forthcoming via email.

it's good when suppliers improve their customer service and communication.

As I placed an order with them last week for an 8-yard, 16 oz. in MacDougall Ancient, I hope that my experience is the same as yours... I've purchased two other kilts from them in past. My first experience was great, but my second less so, because of a breakdown in communications.
I, too, am dealing with Peter, though I fear we're already off to a shakey start, as I'd asked that they send me an email address through which I would be able to contact someone directly, as I'd had a problem contacting them in the past. I've yet to receive the address...
That said, I obviously am very pleased with their products and anxiously await the arrival of the MacDougall.

Shaun,
I hope things go well with Tartanweb. Peter has been more than accommodating with me. He's answered all of my questions and has gotten back to me rather quickly on all accounts. I hope this continues.
I ordered a 16oz., 5 yard kilt in Ireland's National. It will have just a little less swing than your 8, but adequate enough. I have another 5 yarder and it's very nice.
