If you're still waking up on the right side of the grass, you're not too okd for a UK -- or any other kilt.

I'm too old to ......... *fill in blank here* .....
This concept does not compute with me. Period.
Now, maybe...I can't climb mount Everest because my cardiovascular system is ruined from too many years of eating bad food and drinking strong whisky....OK. Or "I can't run a marathon any more because I have arthritis in my knees" OK.
But "too old" just because of a number? Nuts.
Now, if the motivation to wear a utilikilt is so that you will find some nice, low-pressure, no commitment sex, and you want to know my opinion on that, well....that's a different question.

A true crisis of confidence!
Methinks what you REALLY need is to snap on a UK and head out to the nearest t-shirt shop. I have had several versions of my favourite T, that reads, "Cleverly Disguised As A Responsible Adult." Have them make one if you can't find one!
Never fails to get a chuckle when I'm out about town in a UK Workman, logger boots, and that T-shirt. Sometimes with a rainbow-coloured Rasta tam on my head. On cold mornings I'll put a black sweatshirt with custom radioactive-green embroidery reading "Rhubarbarian" over it.
OK, so sometimes I look like a goofball. On the other hand, I find it keeps me from developing too much humility or those annoying crises of confidence. A regular treatment like that keeps me swinging the pleats in confidence, no matter whether I'm wearing tartan or poly.

Ron, carpe diem... and a glass of Metamucil.
You'll do what ever you want... right after you take your Geritol.
Just razzing you, Ron.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Wait just a damn minute...
Hey!! I resemble that remark! Knock it off. You're going to hurt my feelings!!

I think that pretty much settles the question of whether you're too old for anything. You're not.
I'll echo that. I'm pretty sure you've outhiked, outrafted and generally out-outdoorsed just about all of us. Plus it DOES look good on you. I usually keep my yap shut when I see pictures of folks who I don't think have a firm grasp of kilted style (like myself) but I'll certainly pipe up when a good look is called into question. Don't take this the wrong way but you, sir, look ruggedly dashing in just about every pic you post!

Maybe I should clarify - FAT olde man in a Utilikilt...
This is one of those questions that has a DIY answer. Similar questions would be: Am I too old for long hair, or tattoos, or anything else that makes me unique?

You've been on this forum since October 2004. How many times have you seen The Power of The Kilt demonstrated?

Hey Ron,
You look great in a contemporary kilt, and your age would never occur to me as an issue at all. That being said, I think you look better in traditional kilts---but then, I think that regarding just-about-everyone

Hmmmm....wonder if kilts could be marketed to olde guys as a time saver when bathroom emergencies suddenly arise?
Nothing to unzip, nothing to pull down.......just get to the restroom and you're "ready to go"...so to speak...
