Thank you. It was not the best way to lose all of that tonnage. I went to eating one meal a day. I am trying to eat two meals a day. I am not having much luck with that.

My wife is into Weight Watchers - the system where you eat what you want but count a "points" value for the foods you eat. The goal is to stay at or below your points allowance every day. I suppose it's just another way of counting calories. It's effective however. It kind of forces you to make better choices. That couple slices of pizza or plate of yummy haggis for lunch are going to use up most of your points for the day!

I decided to do it with her in part to help support her weight loss and in part to help me drop the extra 10 I've been looking for. My first week ended yesterday with a 1.5 lb loss.

I'd recommend this system as it's not about starving yourself or even radical dieting. It's simply about training yourself to make the better choice (most of the time). I can still have that pizza but I might want to skip the Sam Adams later that evening! Balance.

It's one way to do it.

    Not dead, just busy

    Hello fellow people of substance.

This has been the busiest summer and fall of my adult life. Without going into what it is like to be a high school technology coordinator/teacher, parent of a high schooler and primary schooler, celebrating 20 years of marriage and of course a weekend stagehand and roadie...you can imagine that eating well hasn't been a priority.

However, I'm aback at it for two weeks and have already dropped 8 lbs. Keep on keeping on and checking in your status.

This weekend I am going to the Upper Midwest Emmy Awards. My school has been nominated for an Emmy! Black tie affair, so I am wearing the MacLellan tank with an Argyle jacket and waistcoat. I'll post pictures of me holding the award, or at least me in the arms of some stunned local celebrities. At least the kilt fits :-)
A proud Great-Great Grandson of the Clan MacLellan from Kirkcudbright.

    It Fits!

The first week of December I went to strap on my USA Kilt five yarder in Robertson red. Needed kilt extenders to do the job.

The same week went for my annual physical and my physician wanted to put me on Tricor for my elevated Triglycerides (416). I told her, I didn’t want to take it and asked give me 6 months I will get them to a acceptable level by getting my weight down by exercising and eating a plant based diet following the ‘Eat to Live’ diet espoused by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. She rolled her eyes and said I’ll give you 3 months.

Well, today 10 weeks later and 20 pounds lighter, I strapped on the same kilt in celebration of the birthday of Hugh Mercer (Scottish, British and American Patriot). It fit perfectly. The 20 pounds is 10% of previous weight. I get the lipid profile tests in two more weeks.

A little late but met the Challenge. The threat of taking meds gave me the push to get it done. Thanks, Chubrock!
