Where do all the kilties go?!
Every year around August my area has several hundred kilties come out of the woodwork and attend the Highland Games in the area. then just as quickly all the kilties dissapear. That is all but me...
How is it that we have so many men in Kilts out on one summer day and then never seen again till next year. Most dress in the kilt like they have been on this forum for years yet we only have a few from my state let alone from my area. I have yet to convert one of my friends to kilting even for one night. The guys I train with for throwing each own kilts but they see the kilt as needed to compete not as something they would wear anywhere ellse.
How do we start a kilt night in my area with so many kilties in hiding?

I have an idea...
They go to the same place that all the Summer Joggers and dog walkers go, I haven't discovered where it is yet, if anyone finds out let me know...

T'is true Loon was on the agenda for this weekend for me as well but had some spur of the moment changes at work and some court requirments for one of my fellow officers has me picking up alot of extra hours the next few weeks. At first I felt bad about not being able to go as I had planned but then I thought about all the new kit I will be able to get with the extra $$$.
Well Hoist a dram for me and I'll see if I can't get a kilt night going in our fair state sometime soon.

I get your drift here...sad that these one-weekend-warriors don't have the testicular fortitude to wear the kilt in public more often. Maybe they go to a Burns Supper later and that gives them one more opportunity to fly the colours.

Alas, i wont be at Loon this weekend, but I will be kilted =D
Meeting up with another friend for some scotch drinking and knife making fun out in NY, and we've agreed that we'll only share our fine scotch at the event with people wearing kilts =)

It's a crying shame when all those kilts are forced to hibernate in the wardrobe.

Couldn't have said it better.

I'm continually encouraging friends and co-workers to getting kilts (or bringing theirs back out of storage)... In fact, came to work for the first time today wearing mine, now a friend is going to order one.
Just gotta keep wearing yours and encouraging others to do the same!

As others have posted they go back into the closet only to come out for the next Celtic event where it is "safe to wear a kilt". Guys are afraid of being different and the fear of a garment that does not have two leg holes. I wear mine all over with the hope that the "closet kilties" will see me and realize that if I can do it so can they. I saw a lot of kilts at the Dayton Celtic fest. The day after it was over nada, zip, none in site. I was at a Geocaching event a couple of years ago. One of the regular cachers approached me. He had a kilt but was not wearing it. Ok, I give, where is your kilt at this moment. Well it is in my truck was the response. Not much good being behind the seat in the truck. Never have seen him wear it. Only saw a few pictures where it looked like he was out on the trails looking for Geocaches.
Expensive garments just to decorate the inside of the closet.
