In space, no one can hear you scream. But on Mars, the pipes would be interesting. Perhaps a little reedy. I hope to live to find out, but I would be satisfied with a recording-I mean, not a live performance.
Altho... the red would bring out the green in my kilt...

Alas, I am too old. Carolyn, maybe!! She'd go tomorrow, if they asked her.

Do I recognize the San Francisco Peaks in the background of one of those shots, Barb?

Yes, indeedy! The test was run in the San Francisco Volcanic Field from just west of SP Crater to the Black Point Lava Flow. At one point, the rovers had to cross highway 89 (the one that runs from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon and is almost continual traffic). We had to wait about an hour for the State Police to arrive to stop traffic and escort the rovers across the road, and cars just zoomed on by while we were waiting. I guess they thought the rovers were some kind of uninteresting Winnebago (although this kind of new-generation Moon rover, where the astronauts actually live inside the rover and go from place to place, has been nicknamed the "Lunabago"....hee hee)...Anyway - here's a pic of one of those cars that just sped on by.

I suspect Californians have encountered just about everything under the sun....so nothing fazes them....or slows them down.

California??? The San Francisco Peaks are in Arizona!!! Of course we do have our share of crazy Californian drivers here too!

never thought it would look like that...this is the one I expected:

....but that was the '60's...I don't see the astronauts wearing sweaters and turtlenecks either.

Had I been driving down the road and seen vehicles such as these, I would have stopped, backed up, exited my vehicle and proceeded to ask the operator about every detail of the vehicle. I would have pulled my truck across the road to stop traffic. I have done it before and would again with no hesitation. Great pics, Barb. As usual.
