Shine on Harvest Moon
Up in the sky -
Tonite is a harvest moon, defined as a full moon on the autumnal equinox. Won't happen again until 2029. Get out and take a look if you can.

I would but I know I can't see it...it's raining. Oh well...it's only another 19 years.
The grass is greener on the other side of the fence...and it's usually greenest right above the septic tank.

Yesterday was mild, quite pleasant though there had been fog the previous day, just to remind us of the mists and mellow fruitfulness...
Today is dark, the rain is pounding the ripe blackberries to mush and the wind throwing the apples down with wicked glee, along with a lot of leaves
There is no reason for the equinox to bring a storm, but it seems to manage it quite often.
I was acknowledging the change of season by loading up the freezer, but I saw the full moon.

I woke up in the middle of the "night" and went to turn off the porch light........ that wasn't on.

It was so bright last night, that I thought my wife had left the flood lights on in the back of the house when I returned home from bowling.

Cloudy and cool, no direct view of the moon, but it did backlight the clouds. My wife and I were out late. It was a nice evening.

Aye, it was a bright one.
The last time I was up on Lake Superior diving on Isle Royale, we had the luck of timing the moon's being it's closest to the earth for something like the next 12,000 years (if I remember correctly). I woke up in my bunk at about 0300 thinking there was a car heading right toward me. It turned out to be the moon, HUGE and low on the horizon right above the pines, with it's twin reflected in the bay where we were anchored for the night.
I ended up sitting up most of the rest of the night, just staring at the gigantic, buttery-yellow moon.
