    Kilted Serendipity

Earlier this week I walked out the door and around the corner on my way to the local farmers market wearing a Black Watch kilt. I looked up and across the street was a dude in a Utilikilt strolling along in the opposite direction. We waved and walked on.

Later that morning, I was coming out of a local restaurant after a great breakfast, another guy in a Utilikilt was on his way into the restaurant with his girlfriend. He had long locks and looked as if he might be involved in SCA re-enactments. He said, "It's a great day to wear a kilt." To which I replied, "Any day is a great day to wear a kilt."

Two unknown kilties in one day in a three block radius with no particular event to which to tie the appearances. It was almost too much to take in.

Yes, that does sound like a great day! It's always nice to run into another kiltie outside of the games. Makes you feel like you're not alone in the world.

LOL, for some reason the first thing that popped into my head as I read your story was part of the lyrics to "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie. If three people are doing it, it may be seen as an organization. Maybe in the future you'll see 50 people a day wearing kilts, and then they'll think it's a movement!
