    I Admire You

    Hell-o all,

Today I had to go downtown for some business. Upon leaving the 32nd floor I of course rode the elevator. A few floors down the elevator stopped and in walked a couple of people. One of them I knew marginally from the coffee shop and we did chat a bit. As we approaching the first floor, he just flat out said that he admired me for just being me all Kilted and such.

    Great day.

That's the kind of moment you have to make sure you enjoy and savor.
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

A great day indeed. It takes a real man to wear a kilt but it's always nice to get some recognition for one's efforts...

    Glad you got a complement.

That's cool. Do you ever have people tell you you're brave for wearing a kilt? That's the one I end up getting. I prefer your compliment though, you can just say "Thank you, you should think about getting one too," and be on your way.
For mine I always screw up and end with a "thank you?"

Several years ago I walking down a street while on my way to the Highland Games in my area. As I was walking, I was approached by an attractive young woman who stated, "I just love a man in a kilt!" Now I don't know if she was just flirting, or if she was sincere, maybe both. It was the highlight of my day, "Whew!"

I have gotten that comment a couple of times while walking with my wife. Michele always grabs my arm, and calls out "So do I! This one! Find your own!" and we go on, laughing.
