    The trouble with Scotland is............

Yup, we all know the rest of this line spouted by Longshanks played magnificently by Patrick McGoohan in Braveheart.
It was on TV last night and I watched it again, one of those films you can watch time after time.
Anyway today the national football team kick of their first game of the double header(2nd part next Tuesday in Glasgow against world champions, Spain) against the Czech Republic in Prague, so me and a few friends will be kilted and in a local hostelry in the west end of Glasgow to watch our Bravehearts, always a great excuse to be kilted and get a night out, although Glasgow should be full of kilties tonight in various bars across the city as well as the rest of Scotland.

I felt sorry for the 50 or so tartan army followers who were not allowed to board the plane at Amsterdam last night heading for Prague. Was it EasyJet that turned them away saying that they were too drunk to fly? This has been disputed by some of the fifty saying that anyone in a kilt or a Scotland shirt were considered to be drunk by the airline!

There's another good line about "the trouble with Scotland" in Trainspotting....once used it as my signature but took it out because was told some found it offensive.

Can't help but imagine a game where things were reversed and the team tried to play drunk and the fans watched cold stone sober.

    Still kilting sober.

A most unfortunate situation. From what I have read in the media it appears these guys were booked to fly Edinburgh to Prague by Easyjet with a change of plane in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam to Prague flight was delayed and Easyjet staff in Amsterdam issued the fans with drinks vouchers. One could speculate that a few might have exploited the situation. However to exclude all the Scottish kilties from the flight because a few may have been drinking smacks of discrimination and Easyjet does not appear to come out of this very well. However their spokesperson did tell the Daily Record that the matter was ongoing so maybe they will carry the fans on the next flight.
I have often flown Easyjet while kilted and the kilt has received plenty of compliments from airline staff.

The Trouble with Scotland Is... they never qualify for the World Cup.

The Trouble with England and the USA is... they qualify but go out early.

Every four years Scotland, England, and the USA go through the same cycle of early hope and final dispair.

the US did better than many "Football Countries" this last cup. Considering that the generation that is playing right now is really the first to grow up with soccer as an option for a school sport (at least in my part of the country), I think we hold our own.

Plus, it could ALWAYS be worse... we could have been the French team

Roll on Tuesday and the game against Spain! Who are they, apart from being the world champions!

Czech Republic 1-0 Scotland was about right the other night. We played waaay too defensively.

Will be kilted in my local pub (in Sassen).

After last Friday's result, I am absolutely terrified what the world champs will do with us tomorrow night,
Too much fear not respect was given to the Czech team, here was a team beaten in Prague a couple of weeks ago by Lithuania, Levein's tactics were a disgrace.
Now he is saying that boring football will be the future, people like him should not be allowed into a football ground
Would our American friends embrace this type of football that Levein wants to play - get him out now

I saw some fitba' a while ago after a long intermission, Forget which team England was playing now, but it was a Pathetic showing on both sides!!

I don't know when it changed, it was gutless, and lots of "down time"
What a spineless bunch of wusses compared to the teams of the 70's and 80's.

I hope other teams are better than those I watched.
(Does it sound like I'm grumbling?!)

Now, Rugby!......Thankfully I don't think the rot has set in there yet!

No the rot has not set in with Rugby as it has with Soccer.
As tactics evolve as they have in soccer, with rugby we are starting to see less tries paricularly in international matches and this can make the game less exciting
