    Cars, Tractors and Tracks

This past Saturday, my son and I went to the Oktoberfest Bluegrass Festival in Coleman, Oklahoma, a little farming community about 30 minutes away from us. We went as a favor to a friend from Boy Scouts, who wanted my son and a few other Scouts to raise the American flag while his 4 sons played the National Anthem on their trumpets and horns. I didn't get any pics of the flag-raising (left the camera in the car, thinking it was in my pocket) but I did get a few of the parade entries. There were a few classic restored cars and some nicely restored tractors too.

Here was nice Ford Mustang, I think it was a 1967-68.

A Plymouth Satellite. I loved the color.

I have no idea what this is. Anyone? Anyone? It just looked incredibly sharp. I couldn't find the owner and there were no window tags stating model or year.

This beauty was tattooed as Rebel Without a Cause on both doors.
    And now for another view.

Every knob on the dash used a large red dice for its handle. That pic didn't turn out. But I love the pinstripe job on the front of the hood/bonnet.

Again, I don't know the model or year. There was no rumble seat in the back, surprisingly. The paint was a pearlescent off-white.

    Tractor pics to follow.

    Tractor pics and more

There were a few tractors that were featured in the parade.

    A nicely restored Farm All.

Another Farm All. You can see the only new part on it. It made a little noise going down the street on those metal tires, just a bit.

A Case tractor. The sign on the front says that it was bought new in 1967 from Clyde Motors and Machinery in Waupanucka OK.

A few more pics to share in the next post.

    More tracks

Off to the side of the little park and community center building was a short stretch of railway tracks with 2 service vehicles on it.

Take your pick of which way to make your way down the track. You can either use elbow grease or burn a little diesel.

But first a warning as you get ready to depart.

    The controls inside the cab.

Should you need to stop, the car comes with a braking system.

A rear view, although I think it depends on which way you're going. The red tank and filler cap are for diesel.

It was locked up tight but still managed to have one occupant enjoying a morning snack.

The handcar was chained to the tracks, unfortunately, or else I would have liked to give it a try.

    The end of the line.

    Hey cessna152towser,

I posted those just for you! I had you in mind when I took them. My son asked why I was taking a pic of the handcart and service car and I told him that there was someone on Xmarks that I knew would enjoy them.

As to the little service car, I saw a brief segment on our public TV channel about clubs here in the US that restore and ride the cars, just like vintage car and cycle clubs. They just have to find a stretch of vacant track to accommodate them.
