You are correct, Lochcarron does offer the MacLachlan Old in the 16 oz, and that would be a nice choice for the kilt. But I believe what the OP is looking for is the standard MacLachlan tartan in the weathered/reproduction colors.

Yes, I know. I was merely pointing out that if it was his family tartan, he had another option in Weathered colors.
ANOTHER option may be the MacLachlan MUTED from HOE. It makes a BEAUTIFUL kilt (in 13 oz) if you're willing to consider something other than weathered / reproduction:
