    Upper Antelope Slot Canyon

Here are some pics from the visit MacMillan's Son and I made to the Upper Antelope Slot Canyon out on the Navajo Reservation near Page, AZ. The canyon is deep and narrow - usually only a few feet wide. Light does weird things. I just spun my camera dials around hoping for a few good shots. The lightest part is top of the canyon.

We had heavy monsoon rains and flash flooding a couple weeks ago. The Navajos said they'd hoped the floods would wash out the canyon but instead they added about two feet of sand to the bottom. I liked it, gave the place a bit of a different look.

Here's a pic of the entrance.

And MacMillan's Son walking on in...

Here are some pics from the inside

A pic of my new Arizona Tartan kilt in one of the wider spots in the canyon

    More to come

And here's MacMillan's Son exiting the canyon

For the tartan curious that's his 13 ounce MacMillan Hunting Modern from House of Edgar hand sewn by Kathy Lare.

Wow that looks like one very impressive canyon.
But it appears that MacMillan's Son came back out the same end as he went in!

Thats true Alex. After you check in the Navajos load you in the back end of trucks and drive about five miles upstream through sand. Then they let you out and you walk uphill through the canyon until the canyon opens up into a wash again where folks relax a bit before turning around and going back through the canyon to the entrance. You're always passing folks going the other way.

Here's a pic of the entry/exit on the upstream side of the canyon.

If you wanna see pics by the experts just Google up Upper Antelope Canyon.

Absolutely un-earthly photos. What an interesting and beautiful feature on this planet of ours. Thanks for showing those. I would love to see this place some day.

My dad had the fortunate experience of being able to photograph those canyons. Unfortunately, I was unable to go with him.
