Stone Mountain Highland Games 2010
I know I saw lots of cameras at the Stone Mountain Games this year, so let's upload some pics!
The weather was great, cool mornings and warm afternoons, but never too cold or too hot. The rain stayed away this year. Things got a little dusty (we had to unpack all of our goods with a swiffer wipe in hand today in the gift shop), but no real complaints.
Thanks to everyone who came by to support the museum by shopping at our tent. We had a great weekend, as we usually do, and the extra income from this event really helps up through the winter. And, as always, we were busy answering tartan questions, meeting new friends, and getting reacquainted with old ones.
Now, on to the pics!
Here is out set up, in the usual place (close to the hospitality tent!).
Museum trustee Chuck Coburn assisting someone looking at crests.
Chuck talking with my assistant, Ronan MacGregor (note the rare photo of Ronan smiling!).
Yours truly with Peregrine Moncrieff, chief of the Moncrieffs.
I really loved his hose (his mother-in-law knit them), so had to get a close up photo.
Myself with my friends Pam Brownlee, and Father/Son team Jamie and Tom Mungall.
Another of myself (gee, that guy shows up everywhere) with fellow Scottish Banner writer John Glynn of Glynstewart, who writes the monthly heraldry column.
We had some new folks helping out in the tent this year. Tory is a new volunteer, and Madeline is the newest member of the Newsome clan, just 5 months old. Both did great at their first Stone Mountain Games!
A certain bonnet maker who also volunteers with the museum insisted on getting wee Maddie into a hand knit bonnet...
More to come....

Also on hand to assist at the museum's tent was master sporran maker Lamar Britt. He was on hand for most of the weekend to answer questions about his Ferguson Britt sporrans. Here he is on Sunday wearing his new Ferguson Britt green tartan.
And not to tempt you, but...
Finally, it is always nice to see people out and about enjoying something you have made for them. I saw many of my kilts being worn during the weekend. This one just happened to catch my eye late in the day on Sunday. A nice four yard box pleated kilt in regimental weight Black Watch tartan...
As I said, I saw lots of cameras there, so please add your own pics to the thread!

Great stuff! Can't wait to see more photos!
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.

..
I can't say I like Peregrine's sporran! Interesting to note that he is wearing his belt from the Atholl Highlanders, of which he is an officer.

I agree with you about the sporran. I must say I rather liked his jacket, though. It is cut much longer than a typical kilt jacket, but seemed to work well with the ensemble. Perhaps because it was in matching tartan? When I picture it as a solid jacket, I don't think it would work as well.

It looks like a Saxon sportcoat to me. I think my grandfather had one just like that.
Matt, I'm afraid that pictured next to you, the Moncrieff does not strike a good figure.

Matt, great pics. Thanks for sharing.
It seems like it was the perfect weekend. Too bad Stone Mt. is so far away from PA. Someday!!!
