My identity of course, including but not limited to Anglo-Quebecer, Prod, WASP, Royalist, white male, take your pick of one or all. And you should at least be able to imagine the rest.

To which Canuck in NI responded: “My identity of course, including but not limited to Anglo-Quebecer, Prod, WASP, Royalist, white male, take your pick of one or all. And you should at least be able to imagine the rest.”
Perhaps this is what it boils down to. I also felt that my identity was under attack as an English-speaking South African, royalist, white male. In my Protestant identity I did not feel I was threatened (although many nowadays pour scorn on any Christian belief, and advocate anything but Christianity), but certainly my connection with Scotland.
And, yes, Trefor, you are correct. As I was writing my long response last night I checked details on various Tudors and Stewarts, but forgot to make quite sure whose daughter Elizabeth was.
Her son Rupert has long been a hero of mine.

Mike

Time, alas, for a warning shot across the bows.
This thread is in danger of rapidly going downhill with people getting personal and emphasising religious and racial differences and a civil war of republicans v royalists rather than perceptions and popular misunderstandings of who wears the kilt.
Please think before typing if this thread is to have a future.
Thanks.

I concur, Mr. Moderator. Let us keep the forum about wearing kilts.
I joined this forum, which I surely love, to learn about kilts and to share that information, but I absolutely hate when folks have to put religion, politics, etc. on the front burner.
If someone offends you, then don't feel you always have to have the last word.... let it go!! Continually trying to get someone to think your way is a lack of emotional intelligence. In fact, when you find yourself always responding...that's a form of power bullying. Again, let it goooooooooo>>>>>>
Just my .02 worth of gripe!

I want to remark, for the long term record, that a post went missing here- which makes all the latter ones seem a little pointless. Peace out.

The post you refer to Canuck has been removed for Moderator review following a complaint.
It does not render the posts (including mine) that followed pointless as these address the general tenor of the way things were going in any case.
