Frank,
The elderly veteran, if you will grant the original story, which I personally think is silly to doubt, posed for the photo in front of the National War Memorial here in Ottawa. The depiction on the bill is in fact of that memorial with the top cut off and the heroic content removed as I stated. I think the symbolism seen on the bill as I explained it is completely valid. So far from offending ex-service people, as you accuse me of doing, I was seeking to honour them in this post and I RESENT your grossly unfair statement about that.
I'm now going to ask the mods to lock or delete this thread since it doesn't seem to be reflective of what I intended in starting it.
EDIT: As a PS, and not that I feel the need to justify myself to you Frank, I had a childhood friend killed while peacekeeping in the Balkans. He was unequipped for the situation with no helicoptor air transport and had to use a very lightweight jeep obtained locally. Hence my criticism for the government of the time.
