Busy, busy day. Called Jerry V. at Stillwater and explained the situation, kudos to him for being to simply answer what could have been a complex question to such a simple mind as mind regarding the Edzell and National Fallen Firefighter Foundation tartans. (Now a new task arises: locate these tartans in wool and appropriate lengths.) Order complete and shipped from SWK, originally shipped kilt bagged, boxed and in the capable hands of the Postal Service.
I still do not understand how I can measure in at 48" but require a smaller size. Honestly, I haven't lost that much weight in two weeks.

In a different thread here, someone posted something about Stillwater Kilts shipping being a bit like Wile E. Coyote and Acme Products: Pretty Darn Fast! The heavyweight came in with the post on Saturday. It is a beauty and I tried to not put it on just but just like a child waiting for permission to open their presents, all I did was whine at myself until I did put it on! After ensuring that it did fit properly, I noticed HOW we'd been getting my measurements wrong: I suck in my gut a bit as I walk, dropping me that 2 inches that had been giving me all the problem. And SWMBO has her camera for my photo's. I'll figure out the posting in a bit. Cheers!

The new Kilt. No, I don't go to fires wearing a kilt. This last weekend we had some cool weather down here, one night hit a low of 31* F, hence the sweater.

Thanks for sharing a picture. The kilt looks good on you.

A Newbie gives a Stillwater Kilt Review!
I recently purchased a Stillwater Kilt in heavyweight wool material in the Black Watch Tartan as shown a couple of posts above. Due to my own foolishness, I initially ordered a 48" inch when I found that I really needed a 46" as I tend to hold in my gut when I walk. Jerry V. was easy to reach on the phone and I returned my 48" kilt for refund while I ordered a 46" to replace it. After ensuring that the 46" fit while I walked a bit in the house, I then had the task of removing the basting stitch from the pleats. This kilt is easily twice the weight of my PV Sport Kilts and has three belts (one left waist, two right on hip and waist) which I have seen before when I was a lad and our Scottish friends came to the house kilted. I do not have an expensive fitted kilt to compare this kilt against for quality or workmanship but IMHO this is a top notch kilt for a mass produced, off the rack product.
Pros: Quick delivery in the U.S., will keep you warm when it's cool out, very well made in Pakistan, comparable in price to a top of the line PV Sport Kilt.
Cons: Not for you if you are allergic to wool products, may not be the kilt for you during the summer months, made in Pakistan versus a country more assosciated with kilt making, not a fitted kilt.
Bottom line for me: I was hesistant from purchasing from a limited selection of tartans. But then I'm finding out that the tartans that I will likely wear (National Fallen Firefighter Foundation, Edzell, California and South Carolina) are not produced as much as the majority of the clan and district tartans that are normally seen. But, the wife has shown an interest in Clan Gunn when we were at the Charleston S.C. Games this year, so maybe there might be a change in my tartan wearing status.
