I couldn't help but notice the review that gave this 5 out of 5 stars: "This is the perfect jacket for the man whose husband has a homemade skirt for every occasion!"
As a man with a husband...I beg to differ.

I agree, if it were cut a little leaner, this jacket could totally go hipster.
At the least, it's the antithesis of the all white kilt from a few days ago. ;)

For that money i could just but another kilt (well, most of the cost anyway) and look better. My opinion.
I wish I believed in reincarnation. Where's Charles Martel when you need him?

Apparently that non-tartan tweed look is catching on. Here's Brooks Brothers latest: http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCatP...=§ionsize=

I still like the Orvis jacket, and if I could snatch it up for a decent price (considering it's a novelty and wouldn't be worn too often) I'd jump on it.

There is nothing on Earth that could be worn with this to make it look good.
Just my opinion, of course...

I would *so* wear that!
Not a chance I'll pay $495 for it, and I sure wouldn't wear it with a kilt, but yeah, if you buy it I'll wear it. With Levi's. To work. And shopping.

I agree with that. I'd go maybe $50 tops.

The ad copy says: "This mens plaid sport coat takes refined style to a bold place." and "Imported of Scottish fabric."
Someone was paid actual money to write that. Many people at Orvis had to work hard to bring this product to their customers. I can't imagine what they were thinking, or how a group comes to make the many decisions involved in this product appearing for sale.
By the way, if you have the testicular fortitude [ovarian fortitude?, but I digress in my own aside], if you have the nerve to wear such a thing, why wouldn't you just get a nice kilt that would actually be a tasteful expression of bold style?
"Before two notes of the theme were played, Colin knew it was Patrick Mor MacCrimmon's 'Lament for the Children'...Sad seven times--ah, Patrick MacCrimmon of the seven dead sons....'It's a hard tune, that', said old Angus. Hard on the piper; hard on them all; hard on the world." Butcher's Broom, by Neil Gunn, 1994 Walker & Co, NY, p. 397-8.
