I've found that Ancestry.com has been an incredible resource for researching my family tree.

Ancestry.com is a great site. My uncle who doesn't own a computer, (I think he might be the only person I know who doesn't) has done some extensive research on our family. I've taken his info and used Ancestry.com and it has been amazing how many holes are being filled. I would recommend this site to anyone. It's incredible and a little scary, how much information there is out there.

I will try all that! Ancestry.com is just hard cus I have limited funds. But thanks all! I more just wanted to see, by chance, if someone on this site (since so many are from the eastern US) might be some-what related! But thanks all!

There is a very good chance that your local library has a subscription to Ancestry.com (or a similar site) for all of its patrons.

If you have a library card, you're good to go.

    And good luck!

Not to mention that many public libraries maintain genealogy departments that offer free research assistance, programs, etc. Ours offers basic genealogy programs.

Burly, I've had a good bit of success lately with rootsweb. http://www.rootsweb.com
Its a free community, off-shoot of ancestry.com. As long as you can get back a generation or two go to the family tree tab, and begin searching.
Best of luck, let me know if I can be of assistance.
