I think that the sword pilt pin has been 'done to death'. It is another hang over from the rental industry, like white hose. We are bound to see more swords than anything else, so in people's minds it becomes the way to go.
We have some members who change their kiltpins in line with their latest 'cause'. It has replaced the lapel badge for kiltwearers. Just one example, on this last Armistice Day, I wore a poppy kilt pin.
I think your round kiltpin says more about you than any number of cookey cutter swords could.
