    Hand Knit Kilt hose?

Does anyone know someone or are you someone that can make something like these in different colors?

These aren't hand knit, but the cost is less than hand knit, and they should get the job done!

Let me know if you have any questions about them.

I don't know of anyone offering truly hand-knit hose like that, but if it's just custom-colored Argyle hose you're after, there are several people who offer them.

The Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop, as Matt has pointed out already.

Skye Highland Outfitters offers custom made hose too (machine knit). I had a pair made by them (and another in process), and I'm extremely happy with them. They won't have quite the same character as the hand-knit hose you showed, but you'll get the custom colors you're after. Here is my example:

This is the one time I'll advise someone to go with machine-made hose instead of hand-made. Hand-knitting tartan hose is just too much trouble.

I don't do colorwork, okay I do, but only on a small scale and when it doesn't have to fit anything

I'm a knitter and I think that the skill and time involved in knitting a custom argyle hose would cause them to be prohibitively expensive which is likely why there isn't anyone offering them for sale. Perhaps you could find a friend or relative who could knit them for you for the cost of the yarn.

I will have custom knit kilt hose available for sale shortly, but at this time I won't be doing argyle because I know I could never reasonably charge for them what they are worth in time and skill.

Over the weekend, I have discovered several ways NOT to knit the argyle (diced) kilt hose. I've been knitting over fifty years, lots of intarsia and knitting in the round, many socks, but combining all these techniques is very challenging.

The hose- knitting pattern with the Folkwear kilt pattern: The calf works out to just 9.5 inches in diameter. My beau's wrist is bigger than that!

I have $80 worth of silk & cashmere sock yarn, so I am am definitely continuing to work it out.

I'd really appreciate a reference to a chart (like on graph paper) for the dice. The ones I have seen are too large for my taste.

I sure hope you mean circumference.

Yes, I mean circumference on both points.

Who has a calf just under 10" in circumference? A child, perhaps?
