There are times, I am so proud to be a member of X Marks.

Unfortunately, this is not one of them.
+2, I'm surprised by some of the responses!

Nope, I doubt if you are the first to wear a kilt in Farmington. I did this summer. Of course it was my Buzz Kidder canvas, and I was wearing a tommy bahma and a pair or orange crocks...but it was a kilt. Did I get odd looks? Of course I did, but then I always get odd looks. At 5'11 250, bald as a que ball, and a voice right out of a Mel Blanc cartoon, I am as my dear wife says "hard to miss".

As for political veiws, Farminton and northern New Mexico re-elected a very liberal congressman earlier this month. People are people, tis more important what I think of myself than what someone else, especially someone I will never see again, may possibly think of me. ith:

With some I know around here, believing that stereotype could be a very serious mistake to make. I could see someone making that mistake with some of our members, and if they tried taking it physical, finding themselves in some serious pain, or worse...

When I was about six or so I was in the barbershop one Saturday morning, waiting my turn and listening to a discussion about someone who got locked
up for assault. The discussion was wide-ranging, political, Biblical, emotional,
and not accomplishing much when finally an old gentlemen who was probably
late 70s or even into his 80s hitched up his thumbs in the straps of his overhalls
and closed it with "Waal, now, y'all don't pay him no mind. He don't mean nothing by it, that's just his way." Looking back, to me it says a lot about
having strong opinions (very conservative area) not meaning you can't have
compassion and acceptance for those with whom you disagree. Something
about following a mule for 60 or 70 years seemed to teach that.

Maybe we could establish another forum for this kind of patter, call it 'hens night out'...

Seriously dude how does this help an already bad situation. Lets just move on and ponder why this wasn't shut down by the moderators a long time ago.

    Not that easy

A spirited introduction to the site for sure!

No hard feelings about the heat that I took on the board. Although it wasn't intentional it turns out that it raised the ire of some others.

Hey I ain't a weenie, my skin is a whole lot thicker than that and it takes a whole lot more than that to drive me away.

On the positive, good to know that there are more kilt wearers in the area than I thought (never seen one- nice to know that you are out there!).

    Funny story:

96 year old home health patient, woman who had a stroke and has mild dementia, very outspoken. Saw her the day after Thanksgiving. She asked how my T-Day was. Told her I went to my boss' home. She asked if I dressed up- told I wore a kilt

She said: "Can you wear it here?"- Told her I might.

Next thing out of her mouth: "hope it's a windy day!" Her family and I immediately cracked up.

Apparently while this rule was used to close another thread, it is ok here.

The OP apologized. And how this thread wandered into discussions on sexuality is beyond me.

This is "OP"; Good one with "hen's night out". At the risk of stereotyping again, might be more accurately described as "pecker's night out".

IT'S DONE! NOT ONE MORE SILLY POST! DROP IT!!

    Now back to kilts...

    -Don

Awesome story dude, glad to see you weren't run off from all the banter.

Just between us girls- I'm neither a dude or a buckaroo.
Whoops sorry about that, read Seamus and immediately thought James was your name.
